WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

Taking the ‘snob’ out of wine

Ponce and fuss are banished as we serve wine in unique environments from rooftop bars to vibrant markets to your front room. We tend to talk about wine a little differently too, through topical themes, games and chat

There’s more to wine than the label

It’s the story behind the wine that really counts - how it got from the vineyard to your glass. It’s more than just France, and there are more grapes out there than the 12 most common. We relish in giving you the opportunity to try something new!

Bang for your buck

If you want cheap wine or 2 for 1 offers, we are not for you. However by drinking off the beaten track and spending a few pounds more, we can offer you wine that seriously over delivers for the price you pay

An everyday tipple

Wine doesn’t need to be over thought, saved up for, or drank only on a special occasion. Wine is for everyday; anywhere, any place and anytime (well almost anytime!) There aren’t many other products that give you the chance to explore the world from your living room!

Laura's Story

It was travelling the globe in 2006 that I officially caught the 'wine bug’ and I haven’t looked back since! I was captivated by the huge variety of wine there was out there, and couldn’t wait to tell my friends - the idea of A Grape Night In was born!

In the interim I was lucky enough to learn the tricks of the trade at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen and run the wine cellars at Vivat Bacchus. Along the way I also studied through the WSET programme, and completed the Diploma in 2010.

My London adventures of serving lesser known grapes, and running wine clubs firmed up my belief that there are more people out there just like me, thirsty to experiment and try the new…

The foundations were laid I just needed someone to build on them which is where Kiki comes in (and a bottle or two of sherry!)

Kiki's Story

After studying architecture in Australia, I realised I had a travel itch that needed attention! I moved to Europe in 2006, and in 2007 came to London with the intention of being here for 6 months or so - but after falling in love with the capital I'm still here!

With my previous experience in hospitality I landed a job pretty quickly at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen where I met Laura, and consequently picked up the wine bug (through many outings to the sherry bars of London!)

I have since achieved my WSET advanced certificate, and hosted tastings all over London. But it was a foray back in to Architecture that gave me the design skills to help bring A Grape Night In to life, which came to fruition over, you guessed it, a bottle of wine!

Now...

From our humble beginnings, A Grape Night In has grown from strength to strength, and over the years we have popped up all over London! We have hosted events of all shapes and sizes - from intimate parties at home, to your work summer party, to sold out roof top wine bars. The Summer of 2015 saw us settle down and find a permanent home of our own, Unwined in Tooting! We continue to bring wine to your homes through our quirky wine tastings and Box Wine subscription, but you can now also enjoy a night out at our bar, or pick up a bottle on your way home. 2016 promises to be just as an adventure, so WATCH THIS SPACE...!

Testimonials

A huge thank you to Kiki for all her efforts to organise and host a wonderful wine tasting and dinner for us and our clients.  Kiki used her industry contacts to find us a fantastic venue, with excellent food, that worked so well with her relaxed and enthusiastic hosting style.  Really diverse wines kept the conversation flowing, with a little competition thrown in too. Our clients were very impressed, as were we, and we all had a wonderful evening.  We shall be recommending A Grape Night In to others.

- corporate client, London Calling, May 2015

We had a wonderful evening, thanks to you both for organising, and to Laura especially for making it what it was. The food at 384 surpassed our expectations too - all in all a fantastic and memorable evening

- Chris, London Calling, April 2015

The event was absolutely lovely. Kiki was amazing in working with the restaurant to pair the wines with the dishes and in being flexible to accommodate the needs of our party. Laura was fantastic the night of the event, and the tasting was very laid back and entertaining, which suited the mood of the party just right. We had an amazing event and I couldn't recommend A Grape Night In more highly.

- Elena, Extreme, March 2015

We had a fantastic time. It was the perfect event for a hen that doesn't like normal hen activities! Kiki answered all my emails so quickly and had picked up on so many touches that made the event really special. The wine was lush and really well chosen. Thank you!

- Tour de France, February 2015

I've had a lot of feedback from my clients today saying how much they enjoyed the event. Kiki made the whole thing very easy for me as the host and the blend of information + fun + competition worked perfectly for my mix of clients. Thank you so much

Vescom UK often use A Grape Night In as they always teach us something new and arrange the event in such a unique way that all our clients love it!

- Sorcha, Summer Cheese & Wine, July 2014

A Grape Night In excelled once again with their food and wine pairings. Kiki's enthusiasm shows no sign of waning and the nights are always fun!

- Shorty76, Secret Wine Supper, April 2014

A Grape Night did a fantastic job of organising a hen party for me.  Laura & Kiki were extremely professional and helpful throughout the organisation process and really took my thoughts and views into account.  I really felt as though they were helping me plan something bespoke and not at all packaged.  I was particularly impressed by the way that they re-negotiated the terms of our venue hire when our guest numbers changed. Kiki was fantastic on the day.  The event was fun and relaxed and struck exactly the right chord in terms of atmosphere.  The event was quirky and entertaining without feeling naff.  We had a really great time.

- Emma, Wines with Bubbles, March 2014

Taking the ponce out of wine tasting. What praises I have for both Laura and Kiki - as a team they make you feel comfortable, confident and breaking down the ponce barriers on a perceived serious topic! Their enthusiasm for wine is obvious, their ability to share their knowledge is done on a layman's level for everyone to be able to start the appreciation of wine.
